About Grim & Gripe

Hi, I’m Heather, and I absolutely love horror.

Grim & Gripe was born from a simple idea: create one place where I can organize and display my love of horror movies, TV shows, books, audiobooks, podcasts, magazines, documentaries, and everything else that makes the genre so much fun. What started as a few lists quickly became an obsession.

I built the categories first. Then I started searching, collecting, watching, reading, and listening to everything I could find. Horror movies became late-night entertainment. Podcasts kept me company while I mowed the yard. Audiobooks filled long drives. Magazines stacked up on my desk. Every time I discovered something new, it earned a place here. This website is the result of that journey—a growing collection of recommendations, fun facts, hidden gems, and my own thoughts on all things creepy, spooky, and unsettling.

Ironically, my love of horror actually began with fear.

When I was very young, I had terrifying nightmares about monsters. I would wake up frozen in bed, too scared to move and afraid to even breathe. Then, somewhere around seven or eight years old, a childhood friend gave me advice that changed everything:

“Watch the monster movies. You’ll learn how to fight them.”

So I did.

I started with classics like Friday the 13th, A Nightmare on Elm Street, and The Return of the Living Dead. Instead of making the nightmares worse, something unexpected happened—they disappeared. The monsters became characters instead of fears, and fascination replaced terror.

Being born in late October didn’t hurt either. Halloween birthday parties were just part of life. Haunted houses became annual traditions. Skeletons, ghosts, monsters, and everything spooky felt more exciting than frightening. Looking back, it was the perfect storm that created the horror-loving woman I am today.

Grim & Gripe isn’t run by a movie studio, a publisher, or a media company. It’s simply a passion project built by one lifelong horror fan who enjoys diving into every corner of the genre. Whether you’re looking for your next movie marathon, a great horror novel, an addictive podcast, a forgotten classic, or just want to read the thoughts of someone who probably spends way too much time watching scary movies, I hope you’ll find something here that keeps you coming back.

So grab some popcorn, leave a light on if you need to, and welcome to Grim & Gripe.

After all… every horror fan knows the best stories begin when someone says, “It’s probably nothing.”

Oh! And I print apparel for a living so there is a store here too!  Be sure to check it out.
